LONGVIEW, Wash. (AP) - Fire officials in southwest Washington’s Cowlitz County say three Arabian horses died and another was burned in a fire that destroyed a barn.

The Daily News of Longview reports (https://is.gd/8FoitG ) that the owners of the horses and the 2,000-square-foot barn say they raise Arabians as a business, but the horses they lost Sunday were like family. Three other horses survived.

Robert Achenbach says he has insurance and hopes to rebuild. The horses included an 8-month-old foal and two adult horses aged 16 and 28.

Cowlitz 2 Fire and Rescue officials say the barn was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived shortly about 3 a.m. Sunday. It’s considered accidental but is under investigation.
