WESTMINSTER, Mass. (AP) - Animal welfare authorities have seized 69 dogs from a central Massachusetts kennel where they were being kept in outdoor cages.
The Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and Westminster animal control seized the dachshunds from Cedarshake Kennels. Temperatures dropped into the teens overnight.
Authorities say it is a breeding facility.
The dogs were kept at a local shelter overnight and will be brought to MSPCA facilities on Tuesday for health assessments.
The kennel owners are not facing any charges.
The Sentinel & Enterprise reports that a man who answered the door at the kennel Monday night refused to comment.
