FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) - Fort Wayne Mayor Tom Henry will be seeking a third term as the city’s chief executive.
In launching his re-election bid Tuesday, the Democrat cited several accomplishments, including the merger of Fort Wayne and Allen County 911 communications services and economic development. He contends that since 2011, 5,100 jobs have been created in the city.
Henry said he wants Fort Word to be “a destination place where other communities compare themselves to us.”
Allen County Democratic Party chairman John Court said he doesn’t foresee the mayor having much difficulty in securing the party nomination.
Republican City Councilman Mitch Harper has said he will try to unseat Henry. Harper, who served in the Indiana General Assembly from 1978 to 1990, has sat on the City Council since 2008.
