NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. (AP) - Authorities have identified a 26-year-old man fatally injured when the speeding all-terrain vehicle he was riding missed a turn and crashed into a concrete drainage ditch in North Las Vegas.

The Clark County coroner didn’t immediately determine a cause of death for Troy Clevester Barnes II of North Las Vegas. Blood toxicology tests are pending.

Police say the crash happened about 4:15 p.m. Monday in a neighborhood near Craig Ranch Regional Park.

Barnes was taken to University Medical Center in Las Vegas, where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators say the ATV was southbound on Goldfield Street when Barnes apparently tried to turn left onto Sergeant Jordan Avenue and crashed about 12 feet into the ditch.

It was the first fatal crash of the year in North Las Vegas.
