OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - The Myriad Botanical Gardens Fine Art Series will feature the works of an Oklahoma City artist this month.

Entitled “Monkey Do: New Works by Matt Goad,” the exhibit will open Jan. 29 and remain on view until Feb. 27.

Goad has worked professionally as a graphic designer and illustrator for more than 20 years, and ventured into the realm of paintings on canvas in 2007. Whimsical, geometric, simple and complex, his paintings of animals and nature draw their inspiration from classic graphic design, and pop art reproduction of the mid-20th century.

Goad refers to his illustration style as “chunkism,” which uses stencils and acrylics to create a world where nature and geometry meet.

The fine art series began in 2012. Featured artists have included Benjamin Harjo Jr and Bert Seabourn.
