DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - The Iowa State Patrol is investigating an allegation that a state trooper didn’t ticket an off-duty captain pulled over for speeding or file a report about the traffic stop.

A patrol spokesman, Sgt. Scott Bright, told The Des Moines Register (https://dmreg.co/1AzNLx1 ) on Monday that Capt. Ken Clary was pulled over on Nov. 24 while driving a van belonging to Special Olympics Iowa. The stop occurred on Interstate 80 between Altoona and Mitchellville. But Bright would not say how fast Clary was going nor confirm a report from a Special Olympics official that no children were in the van.

Neither Clary nor the trooper who pulled him over, Bryan Guill, returned calls from the newspaper.

Bright says the investigation likely will end this week.
