PIERRE, S.D. (AP) - Anglers can spear northern pike and catfish on all lakes along the South Dakota and Minnesota border until the end of February.

A valid South Dakota fishing license and a game fish spearing and archery permit is required.

Spearing is not allowed on the Bois de Sioux River downstream of White Rock Dam to the North Dakota border.

The season opened in November and runs until Feb. 22.

Northern pike and catfish may be taken with legal spears from sunrise to sunset. Only one catfish over 24 inches is allowed daily.
