WASHINGTON (AP) - Police in Washington say a barbershop patron was hit when an officer shot at an armed robbery suspect in southeast.
The incident happened about 12:15 p.m. Wednesday on Martin Luther King Avenue.
Police Chief Cathy Lanier said a store owner flagged down officers and said he had just been robbed at gunpoint. Lanier said officers saw some suspects, and one of the suspects with a handgun ran in the direction of another officer.
Lanier said an officer ordered the suspect to drop the weapon and began shooting. She said a bullet went through the barbershop wall and hit a patron.
Police spokesman Lt. Sean Conboy said the patron suffered a wound to the hip and was conscious and breathing after the shooting.
