ATLANTA (AP) - Attorney General Sam Olens has announced the appointment of a new solicitor general in his office.

Olens said Britt Grant stepped into her new role Tuesday. Grant most recently served as counsel for legal policy in the Department of Law.

She replaces Nels Peterson, who has been appointed vice chancellor for legal affairs for the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia.

Timothy Butler has been appointed to replace Grant as counsel for legal policy effective Jan. 16. In that role he’ll be the chief liaison to the General Assembly for Olens’ office and will be responsible for managing major policy issues. He’s currently a lawyer for the Federal Trade Commission in Atlanta.
