SUN CITY, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities say a man accused of robbing a Peoria bank with a fake pipe bomb now is in custody.

Maricopa County Sheriff’s deputies say 34-year-old Mark Edward Neal was arrested late Tuesday night in the backyard of a Sun City home.

They say Neal allegedly robbed an AmTrust bank and fled with more than $5,000 in cash.

Deputies say a tracking device planted in the money bag led authorities to the suspect’s location, which was about 1 ½ miles from the bank.

A sheriff’s SWAT team surrounded the home and took Neal into custody.

Deputies say Neal told them that he needed the money to move to Indiana where his children live with his ex-wife.

Neal allegedly rigged a PVC pipe with an electronic cigarette to resemble a pipe bomb.
