MILWAUKEE (AP) - Milwaukee police have a special outreach team aimed at trying to get homeless people off the streets and into a warm place.

Officer James Knapinski says as temperatures drop, there’s a sense of urgency with the team’s efforts. The officers drive around and visit sites where homeless people often gather and try to convince them to go to a shelter.

Knapinski tells WTMJ radio (https://bit.ly/1xEzTQZ ) officers also have bags of donated clothes in their squads that they can hand out to people living on the streets.
