SUSANVILLE, Calif. (AP) - State corrections officials say an inmate has been stabbed to death at a Northern California prison.

Authorities say 63-year-old Guy Archini was stabbed with a homemade weapon on Monday in a yard at High Desert State Prison in Susanville.

He died the next day.

Another inmate, 27-year-old Edward Leiper, is under investigation in connection with the attack.

Authorities say Archini was serving a 12-year sentence for making terrorist threats, assault with a firearm and possession of a firearm by an ex-felon.

Leiper is serving a life sentence with possibility of parole for second-degree murder.

There’s no word on what motivated the attack.
