EATONVILLE, Wash. (AP) - A Pierce County sheriff’s spokesman says searchers have recovered the body of a missing 63-year-old kayaker from a lake south of Eatonville, Washington.

KOMO-TV reports (https://is.gd/C0HlLx ) that sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer says the search began about midnight Wednesday after a 911 caller said his father went kayaking Wednesday morning on Alder Lake and failed to return as planned.

The caller said he had found his father’s truck at the Alder Lake Park boat launch.

The Pierce County sheriff’s marine unit searched the lake for hours in heavy fog before locating the kayak Thursday morning. Troyer says the man’s body was found nearly two hours later.
