WEST WINDOR, Vt. (AP) - Fire crews are continuing to battle a fire at a former base lodge at Ascutney Mountain Resort in West Windsor.

The fire was reported at 5:30 a.m. Thursday, when temperatures were about 10 below zero.

The Rutland Herald reports (https://bit.ly/1BMpfH4) that many fire hoses were frozen.

West Windsor Fire Chief Mike Spackman says the building housed AT&T; cell towers. He said the fire has knocked out cell phone service in the town.

The ski area closed in 2010.
