MARIETTA, Ga. (AP) - Authorities say they’ve restored power to four schools northwest of Atlanta after an early-morning outage in the area.

Cobb County Schools spokeswoman Jennifer Gates said a fallen tree damaged a transformer early Thursday morning, knocking out power to four schools for various lengths of time.

Power was restored to two schools before classes began, but the outages lasted into the midmorning at Mountain View Elementary and Mabry Middle schools.

School officials said that as the temperature inside Mountain View began to dip below around 70 degrees, they decided to transfer the students to Lassiter High School’s concert hall as a safety measure. However, power was restored around that time and students returned to class.

Gates said students were never in any danger or left in the cold.
