SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) - Federal prosecutors say a former Savannah-Chatham police officer has been indicted by a grand jury on drug possession and distribution charges.

An indictment filed Tuesday charges 27-year-old Derrick Andre Fullmer of Pooler with conspiring to possess and distribute ecstasy and aiding and abetting co-conspirators while he was working for the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department. The indictment accuses Fullmer of being involved in distributing the drug beginning in January 2013.

Fullmer’s attorney Robert Nye says his client entered a not guilty plea during his arraignment Thursday. Nye says he and Fullmer are awaiting more details from the U.S. Attorney’s Office to better evaluate the case against him.
