OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) - Washington Gov. Jay Inslee wants to give electric cars a free ride on state ferries and highway toll lanes.

His transportation proposal also calls for subsidies for charging stations and giving up the sales tax on alternative-fuel vehicles.

The governor’s transportation adviser, Charles Knutson, told The Daily Herald (https://bit.ly/1wZzJyF ) Inslee hopes the incentives will help boost the number of electric vehicles on the road in Washington from about 10,000 today to 50,000 in five years.
