PORTAGE, Mich. (AP) - Icy roads are making driving hazardous in parts of Michigan as more snow is expected to leave roads slippery.

The Kalamazoo Gazette reports Portage Public Safety units have been dispatched to accidents early Thursday. Around 4:45 a.m., crews responded to westbound Interstate 94 for a crash involving three semi-trucks. No injuries are reported.

In Allegan County, the sheriff’s department says roadways are ice covered. The sheriff’s office and state police are responding to several crashes caused by road conditions. The cold temperatures are making road salt less effective.

On Wednesday, more than two-dozen vehicles were involved in a pileup that shut down U.S. highway 31 in Muskegon County’s Dalton Township. The Muskegon Chronicle reports eight people were injured, including two who had what were described as serious injuries.
