LAS VEGAS (AP) - Police in Las Vegas say one armed intruder was fatally wounded and another got away after a shootout with a resident during an apparent home invasion in a residential neighborhood several miles west of the Las Vegas Strip.

Officers reported finding the mortally wounded man outside on Cactus Flower Court when they arrived about 11:30 p.m. Wednesday.

He was pronounced dead at University Medical Center. His name wasn’t immediately made public.

The second intruder fled and hasn’t been identified.

Police say the resident wasn’t wounded. His name hasn’t been released.

No charges were immediately filed, but police say the shooting remains under investigation.
