MILWAUKEE (AP) - The state’s largest school district is among those closed because of the bitter cold and approaching snow.

Milwaukee public schools are closed Thursday. After-school activities, including sports, are also canceled. Whitewater, Jefferson, Lake Mills, Kenosha and Racine Unified also canceled classes.

Temperatures across the state remained below zero Thursday morning. Forecasters expect snow to move in later with strong winds creating some visibility concerns for travelers.
