SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) - Police say one man was sent to a hospital to be evaluated after an SUV crashed through an optical building Thursday afternoon in Spokane.

The Spokesman-Review reports (https://is.gd/PE37Ii ) that the vehicle hit the southeast corner of a building that houses Stahl Optical and Prosser Dentistry, driving into Stahl’s lab. A lab worker was trapped until workers were able to free him.

Police Officer Brad Moon said the lab worker was taken to a hospital as a precaution but did not seem to have significant injuries.

The SUV driver told police he swerved to avoid a car ahead of him that had stopped to make a turn. The driver was unhurt.

An initial inspection of the building indicated it was sound.
