NORFOLK, Va. (AP) - The Virginia Department of Transportation has suspended its contract with a tree-trimming company.

The department tells media outlets that employees of Tree-Tech Inc. of Forest made inconsistent statements about the downing of a power line on Tuesday. The department didn’t provide details.

The department says a Tree-Tech crew was trimming trees along Interstate 264 in Norfolk when an improperly secured boom truck brought down the Dominion Virginia Power line. The line fell across the interstate.

The interstate was closed for more than two hours. Light rail service also was suspended for several hours.
