TACOMA, Wash. (AP) - The Pierce County sheriff’s office says a man called 911 Thursday morning and told dispatchers he had killed his wife at their home near Tacoma.

Spokesman Jerry Bates says deputies forced their way inside and found a 59-year-old woman had been strangled.

Bates says the 57-year-old man had locked himself in a bathroom and cut his neck.

The News Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/1xK0ADP ) he was taken into surgery and is expected to survive.

Bates says deputies also responded to the home on Dec. 28 when the man reportedly attempted suicide.
