MILWAUKEE (AP) - Milwaukee police say the 3-year-old girl found walking outdoors overnight in the bitter cold is doing OK.

Investigators say a citizen found the child shortly after midnight Thursday on the city’s north side and took her to a police station. Officers searched for the girl’s parents and found them about 7 hours later.

Police say the girl apparently woke up in the middle of the night and wanted to play outside. So, she put on her shoes and a jacket, went outside, but then got locked out of her house. She was examined by medical personnel and determined to be OK.
