PORTLAND, Maine (AP) - The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Portland says police arrested four people in connection with the distribution of crack cocaine in the city following a morning raid that shut down part of a neighborhood.

The Friday raid followed an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and other federal agencies. Residents of the neighborhood say officers blocked off streets in the area and an explosion was heard nearby.

Police charged three of the suspects with possession with intent to distribute crack and another with maintaining a place to make, distribute and use controlled substances. Police did not say how much of the drug the suspects are accused of trafficking.

They were expected to appear in court Friday.
