ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - Seven not-for-profit park and trail groups in New York are getting private grants to boost their organizational efforts.

The advocacy group Parks & Trails New York says they awarded almost $16,000 in grants so the seven not-for-profits can grow community support and membership.

The “Growing the Grassroots” grants will go to the Wallkill Valley Rail Trail Association, the Chittenango Landing Canal Boat Museum, Victor Hiking Trails, Friends of Connetquot State Park, Friends of Allegany State Park, Friends of Astoria Heights Park and the New Baltimore Conservancy.
