JONESBORO, Ark. (AP) - Arkansas State has suspended linebacker Xavier Woodson for the first half of the 2015 season opener against USC after Woodson was ejected from the Red Wolves’ GoDaddy Bowl game against Toledo.

ASU athletic director Terry Mohajir and football coach Blake Anderson announced the suspension Friday for what was called a violation of team conduct regulations.

Woodson was ejected during the second half of the bowl game for threatening an official. Anderson said in a news release that Woodson allowed his emotions to get the best of him and now understands that was not acceptable.

ASU’s season opener at USC is scheduled for Sept. 5.
