BROCKTON, Mass. (AP) - A 54-year-old Brockton man charged with rape for impregnating a 12-year-old girl has been ordered held without bail for four months.

The Enterprise (https://bit.ly/1Fzh1IH ) reports that a judge on Thursday ruled that Elbert Richardson was dangerous person.

Elbert pleaded not guilty last month to two counts of indecent assault on a child under 14 and aggravated rape of a child.

The girl’s mother took her daughter to the hospital in November and was told the girl was eight months pregnant.

Richardson’s wife has said a 13-year-old boy from the neighborhood is the father.

Richardson’s lawyer says the entire case against his client is based on the girl’s own statements. The girl and her siblings are now in custody of state child welfare officials.

Paternity tests are pending.
