BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - The archbishop of New York, Cardinal Timothy Dolan, will preside over the funeral of the Rev. Bernard McLaughlin, who was among the oldest bishops in the world when he died this week in his Buffalo-area home. He was 102.

The retired Buffalo bishop will lie in repose Friday at St. Joseph Cathedral in Buffalo. His funeral is scheduled there for Saturday.

McLaughlin was ordained to the priesthood in 1935 at Vatican City. Pope John Paul II accepted his retirement in 1988. After that, McLaughlin held the title of auxiliary bishop emeritus of Buffalo.

The Diocese of Buffalo says McLaughlin was the second-oldest living bishop in the world at the time of his death. He was four months younger than 102-year-old Archbishop Peter Leo Gerety of Newark.
