ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - A 10-year-old Wasilla girl was being flown to a hospital with a head wound after being struck by a vehicle.

Officials tell KTUU (https://is.gd/wz62bc) the girl was alert and conscious after the Friday morning accident.

Matanuska-Susitna Borough Emergency Services Director Dennis Brodigan said the initial call had an 8-year-old girl being struck by a school bus. However, he says updated information indicates the girl was 10. She was standing at a school bus stop and was hit when a truck slid off the road into a ditch, hitting the girl.

Brodigan said the initial call for help was made by a school bus driver who saw the child on the side of the road, and that caused for confusion when officials initially reported the accident.
