ROME, Ga. (AP) - A man who was being held in the Floyd County Prison has been charged in an attack last month on a fellow inmate.

The Rome News-Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/17pqsv8 ) 27-year-old James Timothy Early of Reidsville was booked into the Floyd County jail Thursday. Jail records show he faces felony charges of riot in a penal institution and participating in a criminal gang.

Early was being held without bond. It was not immediately clear whether has a lawyer.

The newspaper reports Early punched and stomped on a fellow inmate’s head and back, causing a facial fracture, a cut on the man’s right eye and multiple bruises on his back while both men were being held in the Floyd County Prison.
