WINNSBORO, S.C. (AP) - Fairfield County sheriff’s deputies say they are looking for three men after a man was shot when he came upon a home invasion at his mother’s home near Winnsboro.

Deputies told local media that three men forced their way into a home five miles south of Winnsboro early Thursday morning and held a woman while they searched for money. Deputies said 34-year-old Latonia Workman arrived at his mother’s home during the robbery and was held as the gunmen demanded money.

Investigators say at some point Workman was shot and killed and the men left in his car. The vehicle was later found abandoned.

Investigators have not determined if anything was taken from the home.
