BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - North Dakota’s first adult Drug and DUI Court is celebrating its 14th birthday.

A ceremony was scheduled Friday at the Burleigh County Courthouse to mark the occasion.

The special program helps people accused of drug and alcohol crimes get help rather than jail time. Since the Bismarck-Mandan Drug-DUI Court began operating in January 2001, 179 people have successfully completed the program. Participants have to spend a minimum of one year in the program to graduate.
