DOVER PLAINS, N.Y. (AP) - New York State Police say a Hudson Valley man who raped a teenager last year and then skipped his court appearances has been apprehended in New Jersey.

Investigators at the trooper barracks in Dover Plains in Dutchess County say Friday that 35-year-old Michael Winchcombe of Union Vale has been taken into custody in New Jersey. No other details on the arrest have been released.

State police say their search was aided by Facebook postings, news stories on the search and the U.S. Marshals Service.

Troopers announced last week they were searching for Winchcombe after he failed to appear for his scheduled court appearances on charges filed six month ago alleging he had raped a 16-year-old.

He was free on $50,000 bond when he left the state.
