SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Authorities say a 63-year-old Utah man lost control while skiing, hit a tree and died.

Unified police Lt. Justin Hoyal says the accident happened earlier this week at the Snowbird Ski Resort.

Friends of Charles Johanson and the ski patrol began looking for him after he and a friend were separated Wednesday morning.

The Salt Lake Tribune (https://bit.ly/1tSSb1v ) reports that his body was found in a wooded area near the base of a chairlift.

Hoyal says Johanson had been wearing a helmet.
