BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) - Heavy snow has the Billings Public Works department taking on a mighty task this weekend - plowing all 400 miles of streets in the largest city in the state.

Public Works Director Dave Mumford tells The Billings Gazette (https://bit.ly/1yLCaLW ) that crews manning 16 trucks will work 12-hour shifts as they seek to make it easier to get around and prevent the icy and rutted streets caused by melting and re-freezing as afternoon temperatures move into the 30s in the coming days.

However, if it snows on Sunday, Mumford says crews might be pulled off the residential work and back to plowing the streets that are usually cleared first.

Residents are being asked to find off-street parking for their cars to facilitate the work of clearing the 15 inches of snow that fell over the past week.
