PIERRE, S.D. (AP) - The state Board of Water and Natural Resources has authorized more than $7.6 million in grant funds, loans and debt forgiveness for waste and water infrastructure proposals.

Gov. Dennis Daugaard announced the available funds on Thursday to fund projects aimed at improving drinking water, bettering environmental protections and enhancing wastewater treatment. The board approved $846,890 for grants and $6.765 million for loans.

Rapid City and Randall Resource Conservation received grants. Loan recipients include: Colonial Pine Hills, Dakota Dunes, Mid-Dakota Rural Water System and Mobridge. A combination of grants and loans went to: Dupree, Hoven, Northwest SD Regional Landfill and Tri County Landfill Association.

The funds came from the state Department of Environment and Natural Resources.
