OMAHA, Neb. (AP) - Former Nebraska defensive standout Trev Alberts will become the 17th Nebraska player in the College Football Hall of Fame.

Alberts was one of 15 players and two coaches nationally whose pending inductions were announced Friday by the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame. Alberts won the Butkus Award as he ended his college career in 1994. He was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts and played for the Colts until 1996.

The Cedar Falls, Iowa, native now is director of athletics at the University of Nebraska at Omaha in 2009.

Alberts joins former Nebraska head coach Tom Osborne (AHZ’-burn) in the Hall of Fame. Osborne says Alberts was one of the greatest pass rushers he’d ever seen.
