DANBY, Vt. (AP) - State police are investigating the shooting of two horses in the southern Vermont town of Danby.

Police say someone entered the property owner’s barn on Thursday night or early Friday morning and shot the two horses in their separate stalls.

Authorities say one of the horses, a gelding, died. The other, a mare, has been seriously injured.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the State Police-Rutland barracks at 802-773-9101.
