BALDWIN, Mich. (AP) - A 20-year-old dirt bike rider says a collision with a bear along a rural Michigan road that was recorded on video hasn’t changed his passion for riding.

Chris Deweerdt tells MLive.com (https://bit.ly/1JqX0md ) the June 5 collision near Baldwin, about 175 miles northwest of Detroit, “just kind of happened.”

The Lowell man was riding with a friend when the bear, which appears young based on its size, ran from the woods. Deweerdt fell off his bike and the bear tumbled before returning to the woods. Deweerdt had a concussion and bumps and bruises.

It’s not known whether the bear was injured.

The video was recorded by the friend, who was wearing a camera on his helmet, and posted online. Deweerdt says reaction to the video has been concern and surprise.
