QUINCY, Wash. (AP) - A hospital in the central Washington city of Quincy says it treated 53 patients from a music festival last weekend. That’s slightly more than Quincy Valley Medical Center treated the previous year.

The Grant County sheriff’s office has said a 22-year-old Portland, Oregon, man died after the festival. The sheriff’s office says it has assigned a detective to investigate the death of Beau Brooks, who died Sunday at Confluence Health-Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee. The sheriff’s office said early indications suggested the death could be drug or heat-related.

Quincy Valley’s chief nursing officer, Alicia Shields, says the combination of high temperatures and multi-substance abuse resulted in a significant number of life-threatening conditions. She says 38 of the 53 patients were treated and released. A handful of others were admitted for treatment and later discharged. Shields said eight patients were transferred to either Confluence Health or Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

Some 27,500 people attended the sold-out dance music event. The sheriff’s office said 10 people were arrested during the festival, less than half as many as last year.
