PROSSER, Wash. (AP) - A 22-year-old man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for hiding in his ex-girlfriends car and then repeatedly stabbing her outside her grandparents’ Prosser home.

The Tri-City Herald reports (https://bit.ly/1KrX0Wm ) that Christian Ramirez was sentenced Tuesday. He pleaded guilty earlier this month to attempted second-degree murder with use of a deadly weapon and a domestic violence allegation. He was originally charged with attempted first-degree murder and first-degree assault.

Prosecutors say Ramirez traveled from California by bus in September and overnight he hid in the back seat of the victim’s truck. He then attacked her as she left for work the next morning.

In court the victim said Ramirez ruined her life, but that she forgives him. She had to undergo surgery for the wounds in her neck, hands, face, back, chest and abdomen.
