PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - A Rhode Island man who pleaded guilty to child pornography charges has been sentenced to five years in federal prison.

Prosecutors say 32-year-old Matthew Antignano, of Bristol, was sentenced Tuesday to five years behind bars, followed by three years of supervised release after his prison term.

Antignano had pleaded guilty in April to one count each of possessing child pornography and distributing child pornography.

He was arrested in July 2014 following an investigation by the Rhode Island State Police, who determined he downloaded and shared numerous files of child pornography on peer-to-peer file sharing networks.

Prosecutors say investigators found approximately 7,750 images and 180 videos depicting child pornography on his computer and other devices.
