SOMERSET, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say an elderly man was killed when the van he was riding in was struck by an SUV in Somerset.

The Niagara County Sheriff’s Office says 79-year-old Francis Landers died after a Jeep hit the van’s passenger side door around 7:30 a.m. Tuesday. It says a home care aide driving Landers had stopped at a stop sign and then entered traffic, failing to yield the right of way to the Jeep.

Landers was pronounced dead at the scene. The 38-year-old aide and the 66-year-old Jeep driver both were treated at hospitals for non-life-threatening injuries. They were not identified.

An investigation is continuing.
