PICAYUNE, Miss. (AP) - The Pearl River County Board of Supervisors is providing $200,000 for renovation of Walkiah Bluff Water Park in Picayune.

In May, the board accepted two $40,000 donations from International Paper in Bogalusa, Louisiana, and the Pearl River Basin Commission. In June, the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks kicked in $84,375. The county is providing equipment and labor.

The Picayune Item reports (https://bit.ly/1T0XZya ) the park is home to a ball field, playground, camping site, covered picnic areas, showers, fishing and boating.

Supervisor J. Patrick Lee says that over the years the park has fallen victim to vandalism.

Lee says there are plans to replace the water well.

Bids are being sought for the work.

County Engineer Les Dungan recently says renovations should be completed by the end of the year.
