SOUTH BRUNSWICK, N.J. (AP) - A New Brunswick man has pleaded not guilty to stalking and fatally shooting his ex-girlfriend in a parking lot.

Twenty-five-year-old Giver Vasquez pleaded not guilty Tuesday to murder, stalking and related charges. He was arrested in New Hope, Pennsylvania, last Thursday in the death of 24-year-old Alicia Martinez-Izaguirr.

Authorities say she was killed on June 24 in the parking lot of the South Brunswick industrial park where she worked.

Middlesex County Assistant Prosecutor Scott LaMountain tells NJ.com (https://bit.ly/1gaE4ie ) Vasquez is in the country illegally and deportation proceedings have begun against him. He says Vasquez had been in a “tumultuous relationship” with the victim.

Bail has been set at $2 million.
