NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (AP) - Authorities say they have confirmed the identity of two teenagers who died in May when the car they were in plunged into the South Platte River.

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office announced Friday the bodies had been identified as 17-year-old Alexis Wiezorek and 18-year-old Noah Ramos. The North Platte Telegraph reports (https://bit.ly/1HjsF6n ) an autopsy indicated the cause of death was drowning.

The two had been missing since May 18, when they drove into the river, which had washed out a road on the south side of North Platte.

Rescuers pulled the car from the river Tuesday after building a temporary road to allow an excavator to approach the car.
