NARRAGANSETT, R.I. (AP) - Authorities are investigating what appear to be suspicious fires that destroyed one boat and badly damaged two others at the port of Galilee in Narragansett.

The Coast Guard was called to contain oil leaking from the boats early Friday. All three are commercial fishing boats.

The Coast Guard says two fishing vessels were heavily damaged and another boat sank at the pier.

Containment boom and absorbent materials were deployed around the sunken vessel.

Investigators say the fires appear suspicious but are not linked. No injuries were reported.

The Fire Marshal’s Office, the Narragansett Police Department and Coast Guard are investigating, with help from state environmental officials.

Police say they’ll seize the two remaining boats as evidence.

Galilee is Rhode Island’s largest commercial fishing port.
