MUSKEGON, Mich. (AP) - A project at Veterans Memorial Park in Muskegon will seek to remind the public about deployed service members.

The Muskegon Chronicle reports (https://bit.ly/1L23Yjs ) Muskegon County Veterans Affairs Department Director Dave Eling, the Northside Lions and veterans advocate Lupe Alviar Jr. plan to place all-weather banners featuring the faces of actively deployed service members on streetlamps.

Each banner would feature the name, rank, branch of service and date of deployment for a member of the U.S. military who is on a short-term deployment overseas. Eling says: “These kids are going to be veterans, but right now, they’re just going to be out there.”

The banners would be red, white or blue. The photos would feature the servicemen and servicewomen from Muskegon County in military attire.
