ATLANTA (AP) - A family escaped injury in Dunwoody when a car smashed into their home.

Harmeet Kukreja told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution (https://on-ajc.com/1dPZrnb ) that she and her family were asleep around 4 a.m. Friday when they heard a loud noise. She initially thought it was an earthquake or a falling tree.

The family ran downstairs and found that a car had crashed into their living room. The driver was dead.

It was not immediately clear Friday what caused the car to leave the road.

Firefighters were still working Friday to stabilize the home and remove the car.
